I'm currently working as a Project Manager for the Naturopathic College of New Zealand (www.ncnz.co.nz), helping to transition the College into the Online Learning world and build technology based support services for our distance students (including our own Ning site!)
I have done a variety of things career wise in the last 10 years, including medical research for Otago University, Business Sustainability positions for Christchurch City Council and Capital and Coast District Health Boards, with my wife Kelly created and later sold a small organic herbal tea business (www.plantsong.co.nz) and run my own health clinic practicing a system called BodyTalk (www.bodytalksystem.com).
Past volunteer work includes with Dunedin Environment Center, The Center of Alternative Technology in Wales, the Pitchandiculum Bio-resource Center in Tamil Nadu, India, and WOOFing in NZ, Aussi and Scotland.
The theme I see threading through the work I have done is it's all about health of the environment and people. I dont see these as 2 things - the health of the natural world around us is a reflection of us as individuals and the health of our communities and culture.
I'm interested in Intersect to learn how other young professionals ulitise their varied skill sets to create new opportunities and new solutions to the challenges of our times. I see times of crisis as those when we grow the most as people and as communities. There are many opportunities in fast changing times.
Areas of interest and capabilities:
I'm interested in new ideas related to the connection between the health of people within their communities and how this relates to business and environmental sustainability.
Within this I am particularly interested in the role of communication in change creation and management, and the diversity found at the meeting edges - of mind/people/communities/cultures/environments

Cheers Laine. I was at Landcare a couple of years ago - but in their Wellington office (I was half the team there!). We might have met over a PlantSong organic chai spice (were you luring people towards your spicy brew at Commonsense Wellington one day many moons ago?). Very fine chai indeed :)
Welcome Laine! I hope you find some inspirations in your intersecting. The Intersect Network grows and flows through the interactions of all its members. You're welcome to get involved in any way that suits you - just let us know if there's anything we can do to assist.
All the best from Nick and the rest of the Intersect Crew

Hi Laine - good work on that petition. I'll share it through my networks.
The best way to share it on Intersect is by adding it to the Forum in this category:
