About Me:
I am a Brit who has been in Wellington for nearly three years now as a PhD Student. I've been privileged to work in many remote and beautiful places around the world, particularly underwater and still finding time to explore New Zealands shores.
My research speciality is benthic ecology in particular sponges. I'm also an experienced scientific diver with skills in videography, mapping, photography and taxonomy in the marine environment.
I also am one of the coordinators for Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) in the Wellington and Kapiti area which gets school children to experience the difference between unprotected and protected marine areas and then carry out action projects in their communities to let them know what they have observed.
Also New Zealand coordinator for Our World Underwater Scholarship Society so providing opportunites for recent excellent graduates who are also keen scuba divers to be sponsored for a year to gain underwater careers related experience worldwide sponsored by Rolex.
Areas of interest and capabilities:
Marine Biology ecology and Marine Resource Development and Protection, Scuba Diving, Sponges, Environmental Education... other random stuff
