Kia ora Intersect Crew,

Thank you for having me. No problem at all re the moderation. Ten videos was a little excessive (was it really ten? Apologies). Please put it down to enthusiasm and a desire to best enable and elicit understanding.

Regarding the surge in membership from Zeitgeist movement members - I have suggested to our members that they join Intersect. We don't have an established network, rather, like you, we have an emergent and growing network. Our members, like your members, have a deeply shared commitment to sustainability, regeneration and positive change. We are a diverse bunch, and I cannot speak for others who have chosen to join concerning what their intentions are. I can, however, speak for myself. I'm here to meet people from Oooby and figure out what I can do with all my wheatgrass and sprouts. I'm here to meet people from Transition Towns, for I believe that their role is critical to the survival of our communities in potentially strenuous times ahead. I hosted a networking symposium at Wellpark College last year and gave Transition Towns Torbay the floor where they introduced TT to fifty others. I also connected the Wellpark permaculture team with TTT, whom I believe are still working together. I am friends with many of your members (though not yet officially on here).
I, not we (as I said, I cannot speak for any others) am here "to connect - to bring people, groups and ideas together"...."to encourage action through fun and inspiration"..."to develop understanding through curiosity and dialogue", and to grow. I want to teach those who are curious about the Zeitgeist Movement. I want to learn how to make that compost bin that heats water. I want to share my knowledge of permaculture and Geoff Lawton's food forests. I want to swap yoga therapy sessions for veggies/massages/other cool things. I want to find a job that i'm passionate about. That's what's attracting me to Intersect.

Kind regards,
Michael West

Hi Megan
Thanks for the message, and for accepting me as a member of the network. I appreciate that the priniciple benefits are for like-minded Kiwis, but I found Nick Potter's advice on car-sharing useful, as I'm considering setting up a car-share in my village in Sussex, UK. I wanted to leave a comment and was prompted to register, so I did!

More generally, I'm interested the the potential for online communities to mobilise for social and environmental change, and I hadn't come across Intersect before - so I'd love to find out more about what you're doing and perhaps compare notes on how things are developing in the UK.

Cheers,
Charlie
