Creating Intersect events

Intersect events are pretty special. The people that go are generally amazing. You can trust that anyone that it occurs to you to speak to will be interesting and friendly. Last year was the first time I attended any Intersect events, and I was hooked. Here’s what we got up to in Wellington, on the first Monday of the month:

We started off the year with a bang of Be Amazed events. The idea is to present a couple of amazing things, which sets the scene for amazing conversations…

Making change: individual and collective action

It's really great to live according to our values.

If we're worried about climate change, it's great to choose to bike or take the train, or think twice about unnecessary journeys.

If we're concerned about waste, it's important to do our bit and reduce or recycle that waste.

Choosing to do good - try and do less bad, as by our very nature humans weigh on our planet - is important, and can also help us do better. Every bit does count.

But it's also important, I…

A very short introduction to the referendum on New Zealand's voting system, 26 November 2011

On a sunny Saturday morning this 26 November, you can wander down the road, pop into a polling booth, and contribute to our democracy.

(First, though, you've got to be enrolled to vote. You can check that out here.)

In that booth there’ll be two bits of paper.

One bit of paper is orange. That’s to vote in the election. You’ll be asked two things. Firstly, what person you want to represent your electorate in…

Hey lovely lady, it's great to 'meet' you again so soon - and great job again the other night. You really rocked (slash - I've never seen such an attentive audience in my entire life!). If you have any pointers on where to look around here, they'd be greatly appreciated :)

· I thank you too, Elinor.

· However, I have an asocial personality (self-defined as incipient-autistic) so while I'm very happy to communicate by email or https://twitter.com/davd - I won't be coming to meetings.

· I also limit my fossil-fuelled travel as much as possible; I am determined to live locally and never to fly (other than gliders) again.

· I very much like the goal of http://we.intersect.org.nz/

David. I write to the list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LessIsMore
