Genuine Progress Indicators

GPIs are fast becoming popular as an alternative measure of how we are doing, a step beyond Gross Domestic Product. Both local and central govt. are developing GPIs in NZ. But what does it take for GPIs to be really 'genuine'?

Hi Aaron,

With regards to the 'Say No to Kwila' post, Bunnings would like to let you know that we have operated a zero tolerance approach to illegal logging for many years and we do not understand why we are being associated with these claims by the Rainforest Action Group.

We would be happy to discuss any concerns or queries on this issue.

Kind regards, Catherine

hi Aaron, thanks for the reply. You sound busy and the thesis sounds really interesting! its seems extremely relevant in a world where public disinterest in politics fairly prevalent. I hope its all going well. And I'll take a closer look at 350.org to see whats happening there.

Hi Aaron, we met in West Auckland at Dave Breuer's place in West Auckland discussing a GPI website. I noticed you on this site and thought I'd get touch. I pretty much dropped the ball on what I set out to do re setting up a GPI survey for NZ and just ran out of enthusiam. But I a got inspired again talking to a friend and I was wondering if you wanted to join in with some experteese? The idea is really simple. setup a survey website with GPI questions for NZ locals and see what comes out. A friend will do some magazine editorial content for advertising to point people to the site etc. Let me know if you are keen. This project could use your input.

Hi Aaron! Thanks for your reply. There's a group of us in Auckland who are actually quite keen on coming down to Wellington for the 6th... travelling in a low-carbon way, of course (night bus??). But definitely, definitely keen on getting an Auckland network set up after the 6th. And would be great to meet up when you're next in Auckland - give us a shout. I'll send you my email address in a message. Cheers!
