Im coming home to christchurch in feb, after 18 months away through a bunch of countries! Im in contact with Renew Brighton, Gapfiller, Project Lyttelton, SHAC and ReGeneration a little..... so many good people, just need a bit of energy and things happen!

theres also good news. Michael Reynolds from Earthship Biotecture - Radically Sustainable off-grid buildings is coming to Christchurch for seminars this March. Veryinteresting guy with alot of amazing ideas.

Ministry of Awesome seem to be running some good events recently, "Coffee & Jam" and "Awesome Evening". https://www.facebook.com/MnstryOfAwsm

Keen on connecting with some ChCh Intersecters though

Christchurch! Im a newbie, looks like this group hasn't had much action for a while? Maybe a good time to catch up and get to know about what exciting things are going on around the city? Anyone keen?

Chch Intersectors will be interested in this:
Nicole Foss (a.k.a. “Stoneleigh”), Energy Industry Consultant and Financial Analyst at www.TheAutomaticEarth.blogspot.com, will speak in Christchurch:
Friday 23 March, 12-1pm, Imagitech Theatre, CPIT, Madras St; introductory lunchtime talk.

Friday 23 March, 6-9pm, L202, CPIT, Madras St; workshop. Koha contribution towards Nicole’s transport costs and some finger food. Food contributions very welcome.

"A Century of Challenges: Building Local Resilience in an Era of Economic Turmoil & Resource Depletion"

Peak Oil and the implosion of high-leverage finance schemes around the world are converging into a “perfect storm” that may threaten prosperity and social cohesion. The consequences: “hallucinated wealth” is vanishing, real unemployment is rising, and social unrest is growing amid global tensions over energy resources, water and land.

Families and communities should prepare for the challenging times ahead. Find out how.

A remarkably lucid and clear thinker, Nicole is one of the few people broadly qualified enough (finance, energy, oil/resources, geopolitics and law) to " join the dots" and discuss with any authority what is going on with global finance right now, where we are headed and its relationship with the rate of fossil fuel production.

Just to let you know there is a very interesting environmental education conference in Hamilton in January (that is covering things from permaculture, through to enviroschools through to eco building). check it out: http://www.nzaeeconference.co.nz/default/

I'm keen to hear more about this - I'm very interested in co-housing opportunities, which I think ties in nicely with earthship housing.

Steve, nice to meet you last night. :)

Yo Christchurch!

We're going to host a meeting in Merivale in a couple of weeks aimed at initiating a small-scale project bringing in some Earthship-derived techniques and systems to the city. Stay tuned for further info as we develop it...
