Hey all,
Feels like there's been heaps happening on the climate change front in Dunedin lately. If you're keen for one more event to get your teeth into, then we're hosting a public debate this Wednesday 25 May, 7pm in St David Lecture Theatre.
The debate is called "Drill Baby Drill - should NZ go green or go underground?" Metiria Turei and David Clark will both be speaking on Team Green, and a representative from Straterra (mining industry lobby group) will be representing Team Underground.
"We" is the Otago University Debating Society. We'll be popping a few student speakers in there to keep the celebs on their toes. There'll also be a panel discussion at the end for you to put questions to the speakers.
Would be awesome to see people along - it's hard to break into the non-student network with an event like this, so bring any people you know would be keen! Facebook event is here.

Winter Lights 2011 will consider New Zealand’s longer-term energy future with an emphasis on the role of fossil fuels in transitioning the country to a more sustainable, low carbon economy. This is the first in a series of Thought Leadership Forums being planned and run by the National Energy Research Institute (NERI).
WHERE: The Otago Museum, 419 Great King Street, Dunedin.
WHEN: Thursday 16th June 2011, 8:30am - 7:00pm.
We will hear from New Zealanders leading the broader energy sector and discuss both the opportunities and the trade-offs involved in moving to an energy future with less dependence on traditional fuels.
Early Bird Registrations close next Friday the 20th of May. Note also that some of you may be eligible for the heavily discounted NGO/Student price.
