Kia ora tatou,
I recently went through an excellent experience with the Regeneration NZ crew at their Summer Jam, and one workshop stood out for me - 'Collaboration Cafe'.
It's a mix of world cafe, open space, with groundings in the Art of Hosting. Essentially it's a way of developing and refining ideas and re-connecting communities.
We are interested to hear from anyone who has ideas they would like to develop, people who are interested in coming along to chat (as participation is a big part - no need to be an expert), AoH facilitators, and anyone with any ideas on locations/spaces, promoting the events, or people who're doing for-good projects in the community.
Our main focus will initially be on inspiration, social enterprise/ventures, and re-connecting with people in our communities.

Maybe you would be interested in an idea a friend told me about an event she attended in her hometown Detroit. Once a month, Soup happens. It costs $5 to attend. You get a bowl of soup. There's entertainment, maybe from a band. Different people present ideas that want funding. The people present vote on which idea they'd like to support. All the money from the entry fee goes to that project. So it's a mix between art (and different kinds of art) and discussion and connecting people and social change. The website is here: http://www.detroitsoup.com/
It's been on my mind to make something similar happen - I'm not sure if it's similar to what you have in mind, but regardless, I would love to hear more!

My flatmate is in the throws of establishing an alternative loan scheme to help people out of debt.. She's a wee bit stumped with where the process is currently at and so I suggested Collaboration Cafe might be a good source of insight.
The first of the Cafe sessions is penciled in for Feb right?
I'm well keen to help promote the events and lend a hand.. Let me know how I might be able to help
Cheers :)

Eli - sounds interesting, I'll have a look. What we have planned is fluid - keen to trial a few things around getting ideas & entrepreneurism flowing. But social entrepreneurism rather than anything too "flashy & ferrari's" if you know what I mean..
Jaime, for sure - would love to have some help & thoughts. Your friend should speak to Josh Vial as he has a similar idea I believe.
Would love you all to invite people into this space to start some discussions/networks + then we'll take it offline and host some physical events. Keen to pilot in Wellington, get a plan together + roll out across the country - so keep thinking if you know any interesting types in other centres.
